  4. Hov saved this beat from being wasted on Drake’s lame ass flow and lack of skills. Big ups to Jay for saving HIP-Hop. Without him we would be stuck with Lil’ Wayne’s garbage ass.

  10. drake is talented and will get far, he just has to be weary of not doing the same shit – as he shouldn’t limit himself. yes it is hard to be on the same label as a man who is right now the hottest on earth (in terms of tracks playing etc), but drake needs to try and push himself and try and appeal to people in a different way than to weezy. Hov is a murderer and has been killing shit consistently, but sometimes i have to say…hov’s lines can be a bit suspicious, but that’s understandable after you drop 10+ albums.

free weezy………after he does his time.

  12. I’m not saying Drake is better than J…not in a million years. But he delivers ON THIS TRACK…you can feel the raw hunger. J is just talking gibberish here what the fuck is his point??

You seem like the type of people that are just on J’s nuttz and are gassed on whatever he puts out. He has put out some of the hottest tracks ever in hip hop…..but this verse aint cuttin it.

  13. This is another trak that any Mc with skills other than Drake is go’n to kill. Jay did his thing but Drake once again fell short. Maybe the youngster should stick to sing to the ladies or go back to acting.

  16. I thought they both did their thing. Drake to me makes this song. Though I’ve never been a huge Jay-Z fan, to me his music lacks emotion; however on this song I can feel it. He seems pissed and is probably reminiscin on some of the fuckery that goes on in the industry and on blogs. I also like the knowledge he’s dropping on Drake. Nice song.

  19. “Light Up” is unique in the fact that it expresses two different viewpoints of the same kind of exposure to fame and the bright lights. Those viewpoints being that of the Rookie of the Year(Drake) and that of “ONE” of the MVP’s of the game right now(Jay-Z).

Drake takes the time to express the hustle and grind it takes to stay on top of his game while dealing with the absence of real friends and the universal presence of “pillow talking” Lames and would be Haters; and not to mention the betrayal of women you think have your best interest at heart.

Jay takes the time to express that in the midst of all the women yellin and fun that the “Lights” bring, there’s a side that will ruin you if you allow it to do so. He’s saying that through experience, he doesn’t waste time on the opinions of others(Blogging) because at the end of the day it’s his life that matters most. He also points out that it’s always somebody claiming they made you who u are, and no matter how cool u may be coming into the game, the fame, pressure, and critics can turn you into a monster.

I believe the most critical of all the points is “Stay Grounded” and know what YOU want outta this life of fame and fortune.

    Hot Track

It’s just a part of hip-hop culture to compare two rappers on the same song. And any rapper with pride never wants to be outdone by another rapper. They don’t wanna get embarrassed because they didn’t come hard enough. It’s friendly competition….

By the way, the song is dope as hell.

  23. Drake had a real verse and Jay had a real verse w/some flash (money talk) but more lines a average ear wouldn’t catch. More so subliminal. and that Triple Entendre was questionable lol.
But I think Jay got Drake lyrically but Drake captured the realness factor

    Just an opinion

  24. Jay-Z is overrated. Just because he self-proclaims hes the best rapper ever, doesn’t mean he is.

Drake killed it. Jay-Z ruined the track.

  26. Why does everyone have to hate on someone. Just some lames… I fuck with Jay-Z hard since day one and I fuck with Drake hard since I heard So Far Gone and Comeback Season. He’s the truth. Why y’all wanna sit on here and argue about who’s better when they all fire. I even fucked with Wayne since it was the B.G.’z, not just B.G. himself. I think Wayne mighta been 12 lol. Point bein’, if you love real-ass music, you would know that all of these three dudes are on top of their shit in their own way. I haven’t aniticipated a release as much as Thank Me Later in a LONG time, maybe never. Dude is the realist thing out, killin’ two genres at once. I just wish it wouldn’t all leak, but everything is FIRE to me other than “Find Your Love”. I ain’t hatin’ on it, but I’ll prolly hit the skip button on that one more than once. Oh yeah, I fuck with Khalifa real hard too. Y’all know it’s the gang or kill yourself.
