Not sure about this…..I think the beat and production is amazing but Drake is not stepping up to the same level that he got us ready for after So Far Gone. We need another Best I Ever Had..more singing..more meaningful lyrics that set him apart from every other rapper out there going in over a good beat. (and this is coming from a huge Drake fan)
Really hoping to see better from the rest of this album.

Etanclan you read my mind, not the best he could’ve done. Seemed like something he wrote while in a hurry. I think he should get some more singing just to level his flow out. So he keeps his reputation as best singer/rapper. He pretty much is and if you disagree, “poetry” rap isn’t ur strongest subject. But yea this track kinda made me believe he’s draggin ass on writing lately.

Production is great! Content is good. What I think I’m saying is that the best one liner is “I can teach you, How to speak my language, Rosetta Stone”. And yes I would have to agree w/ Simon I can see this growing on people. Not a bad choice for a first single. For an up and coming rapper this would be a great song to start your freshman album w/. But because of “So Far Gone” “Best I ever Had” “Forever” he has become is own worst enemy.

It could be alot better. Its okay but the hook is kinda lame. But Drake can be the best in the game ayt times and this was his chance 2 prove it. Step it up drizzy

MANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN. This is that cocky song, that confident shit. This is a song you bump and blast in the car with the windows down. This shit is hard. I mean this isnt a lyrical song and im sure he did it on purpose. Its simple and catchy, he’ll have his lyrical songs if thats what people are looking for.

Good song, obviously not his best. I know people hatin cause of all the hype, but i think it’ll grow on us. And we’ll be saying the opposite when the album comes out cause I know its gonna be fire. I cant wait to hear some of the R&B songs hes gonna have on it.

Yo dis is a disapointment…when i heard the sick chorus i thought he was gonna go in…I mean this beat is hard as concrete…But his verses is as soft as a pillow top sounds like da verses go with another song cuz da aint on topic at all…Hope dis aint da real single..or i hate to say it he might be goin commercial shoulda stayed independent…On another note he betta lock up this beat cuz if any good spitters get dis da gonna body it fa real…Nuff Said Game Up…

Comment by Marcus on 5 March 2010:
the beat during the actual verse is weak, it would go so much harder if it were the actual bass beat during parts of the song, the beat during the end of the hook.

Comment by Scotty C on 5 March 2010:
This is the truth right here…the hook is weak and one of the worst i’ve heard from Drake in a while. But when he spits he saves the song from being a disaster. Idk….I kinda wish he could keep the verses and re-do the hook. it had potential…it just kinda fell short, imho.

ok so im a die hard drake fan. But i feel like he can do wayyyyyy better than this. He brought us so far gone and everyone loved it. But like this song isnt anywhere near as good as he could have done. Especially since he’s making us wait so long for this album to come out.

I agree with Candz. But I got 3 words for everybody: SAY WHAT’S REAL. I thought Drake was just average until I heard THAT song on So Far Gone… The way he took that Kanye beat and just flipped it was sick as hell. And the lyrical content was amazing. I play that shit at least twice a day. So, every Drake song I hear, I compare to that one… and this fell a little short. I know there will be better shit on TML though.

I’m a big So Far Gone Fan, And I like this single, But you have to admit he IS going commercial. I Liked it when he spit more meaningful lyrics. Not all this shit about money, partying cars, etc. He’s turning into a lil wayne.

I can see where you’re coming from, but as you say his “success story”, he hasn’t even dropped his album yet. Listen to all the songs on So Far Gone Vs Post-So Far gone and there is a difference in lyrics. If you haven’t noticed that, then you haven’t heard So Far Gone as many times as you should have. i can’t really knock him for that though, Cause he is still putting out some of the best tracks out today.

Beats great. Lyrics sound like “blah blah blah” and the hook is horrendous. Basically the beat makes the song, like every other one of his songs. I always said that Drake is a weak rapper…I’ve always been right.

We all want a rapper who’s going to go hard on a beat and spit some meaningful lyrics….Right? I mean that does seem to be the perfect rapper? Yet again we have for the most of us become disappointed with an artist that is hitting the main commercial airways! The beat is beautiful no doubt about that, I don’t think people can say the beat is horrible. The lyrics are in some areas of the song overwhelming at times, Drake is an amazing artist and as for him, well he could have given people of America the raw mixtape talent for a first single. Then again we as Americans have completely destroyed the market of rap. I have no doubt that Drake’s album will be number one everywhere. I do fear that the mixtapes and the albums after this first one will in someways disappoint us. I do hope I’m wrong.

He ain’t sayin much…the production makes u keep listen’n tho. Drake stepped into the game with some big shoes on and now he has to fill’m again! Not doubt’n just patiently wait’n. I wonder what J. Cole would’ve said on this joint??

It sounds like he’s rapping while frowning.. I don’t know if i burnt out on Drake or my expectations were sky high or what, but I’m not feeling his voice or his flow anymore… Don’t get me wrong the beat and hook are great , and I think another rapper like J. Cole would’ve tore it up, but his monotone rapping gets kind of annoying after awhile. I think he’s only gonna be as good as his producers, and a lot of people want to produce for him, so he’ll stay relevant for a while but if he doesnt switch his style up he’s gonna get old fast-like.

I believe the majority rules. As I mentioned before Drake has become his own worst enemy. The public has spoken. And the conclusion is inconclusive. A bunch of mix reviews, diehard fans stick by him, diehard fans of hip-hop are somewhat disappointed. But if we were to say that this is a consensus of the hip-hop nation we would have to grade this is a B. Drake is an “A” student that’s why we are all so disappointed.
