Eminem’s newest album Relapse debuts number with 608,000 sold in its first week, it the biggest numbers so far this year, This is his 5th number one album and between his sex albums Em has sold over 34 million in the U.S., making him the biggest selling hip-hop act in the SoundScan era (1991-present). Method Man & Redman sold 63k while Busta Rhymes debuted with 59k records sold. The margin between the 3 artist most certainly displays who’s buying albums and who isn’t.
I’m a bit surprised by the numbers, I didn’t expect the album to perform this well being that apart from Crack A Bottle, he didn’t have any hit records which goes to show you that Eminem’s past work and legacy is still influencing today sales.

I think the number just show how much the game has changed since he has been absent. I think he should have sold more after being gone that long just because his level of superstardom and the anticipation that has built up over the years. Also, the shit leaked two weeks early. Definately a hot album though. Red n Mef delivered as well

Its like Collegiate said. His numbers just show how much the game has changed since Em’s mlittle disappearance. But it still shows that he has more talent then almost anybody in the game, and that no matter how long his vacation,how shitty the economy is, how much people are downloading, or how much bullshit rappers are out there, Em, will still remain a huge Icon to hip hop, and he WILL be remembered for his contribution to hip hop. O yeah one more thing. the only problem I had with this album was that stupid middle eastern dialect. I dont know if he’s tryna be funny, or if he really is sober like he said. Regardless, the album has some sick joints. As I said, Check out Underground, Stay Wide Awake and Old Times Sake.
