Nas Interview With Complex Magazine

July 10th, 2008 | Chozen | 5 comments | 1,553 views

Complex: Kanye says that you are the greatest rapper of all time. How does it make you feel when people call Lil’ Wayne the best rapper alive?

Nas: Oh man, good. I only feel weird when you’re saying that about me. I think Kanye West saved rap. I think Lil’ Wayne is showing there is a future for all kinds of artists to continue doing this. You know, I love it.

Complex: Who in the game still excites you?

Nas: Kanye, OutKast, Eminem.

Complex: Is this your last album?

Nas: This is definitely not my last album. I’m going to do this shit until I’m 70, until I can’t fucking talk.

  3. I dont think Nas is the greatest of All time but along with Kanye, he’s one of my favorites.
Being a CHicago native and knowing a little bit about Ye West I can see why he would choose Nas over BIG and Jay.

  5. It’s cool that Nas and Kanye stand by Soulja Boy. I’m a 35 year old white guy, and when I heard him, I thought the same thing. He brought back a little of the hidden meaning, the double entendre–which has been missing for a long time. And from the dirty south, which is what really started to kill hip hop. Lowered it to the lowest common denominator. I think hip hop and the true great power of all black american music (which some know IS american music) is to speak to anyone anywhere, and remain true to black people. We are always toughest on our own race. The hip hop community embraced eminem for his incredible rhyming talent, but…his lyrics make soulja boy’s look like Bob Dylan. Never really got beyond a 16 year old white boy sniffing glue and doing donughts in the parking lot.
